Accounting Assistant

The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, the leading champion of empowerment and opportunity for African Americans and others throughout the region in securing economic self-reliance, social equality and civil rights, is seeking a highly motivated individual with a passion for helping others to join our Finance team as an Accounting Assistant.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Providing administrative support to the Chief Financial Officer, Controller and Business Office.
  • Manage CFO's correspondence and unique vendor invoices
  • Manage and update CFO's files and documents
  • Receives, opens and distributes CFO's mail. Process CFO's outgoing mail.
  • Receives and evaluates inquiries, providing information and assistance as requested.
  • Assists in the arrangement of appointments, and maintains calendars.
  • Perform lease accounting including record lease payments
  • Prepare lease invoices
  • Manage tenant leases
  • Assist with managing facility leases with Urban League as the lease
  • Prepare and update cost allocations and distributions
  • Assist with packaged liability insurance renewals
  • Assist with agency copier and equipment leases
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of committee minutes, agendas, etc.
  • Arranges, participates in, and implements, as coordinated meetings and special events.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An associate degree or some college coursework in a related field is desirable, a bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience of executive level administrative support
  • The ability to prioritize competing projects with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Seamless interactions with staff and individuals at all levels both internally and externally
  • The ability to make independent decisions within established policies and procedures with a plan of action and follow through
  • Deliver excellent customer service
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
