Community Health Navigator

The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, the leading champion of empowerment and opportunity for African Americans and others throughout the region in securing economic self-reliance, social equality, and civil rights, is seeking a highly motivated community-focused individual to work as a Community Health Navigator within the Public Safety Division. This is a temporary position.

The Community Health Navigator are boots-on-the-ground experts who will help to connect people to the COVID-19 vaccine. Their focus is to conduct outreach to answer community members' questions.

The Community Health Navigator will canvas high traffic spaces and rely on neighborhood relationships to share information.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Engage in active listening and provide support to the community through information, time and patience.
• Build relationships for individual progress
• Monitor and respond to phone/text help lines, answering community members' questions about the COVID-19 vaccines and help schedule vaccine appointments for individuals.
• Conduct outreach to answer community members' questions and connect them to the COVID-19 vaccine.
• Attend community vaccination events to assist in getting people vaccinated.

The ideal candidate must have:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Constructive in interpersonal relationships
• The ability to work independently
• Knowledgeable about health issues and/or health care systems
• The ability to identify and use resources
• Documented proof of full vaccination
• Commitment to serving the community
• Strong conflict resolution skills
