Cure Violence Site Director

The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis is seeking a qualified individual to implement the Cure Violence initiative, a coordinated strategy to address violence within the Walnut Park neighborhood.

The Site Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and expanding the goals of the Cure Violence program at the site level and must meet the following criteria:

  • Proven successful track record in project and staff management
  • Familiarity with City of St. Louis Communities
  • Experience in community-based mobilization
  • Experience in development of violence prevention/reduction strategies
  • Ability to represent Cure Violence in St. Louis effectively
  • Ability to promote program to local media, politicians, and funders
  • Ability to articulate the programs goals and philosophy
  • Comprehension of Cure Violence in St. Louis's five core components: community mobilization, outreach, public education, faith-based leader involvement, and criminal justice participation

The successful applicant for this position will have experience and/or competence in:

  • Program development and management
  • Public Speaking
  • Violence Prevention efforts
  • Verbal and written communication
  • Mediation and resolving group conflicts
  • Grant writing and resource development
  • Community development and organizing

The Site Director for Cure Violence in St. Louis will be responsible for:

  • Attending Cure Violence Monthly Implementation Meetings
  • Submission of Program Monthly Reports to DOH at Cure Violence Implementation meetings
  • Communication with DOH on site status and DOH site evaluations
  • Develop a plan of action for any site improvements
  • Develop a strategic plan to implement Safe Streets in target community.
  • Management of all components of Safe Streets to include:
  • Community Mobilization, Outreach
  • Public Education
  • Faith-based leadership
  • Criminal Justice participation
  • Oversee and implement technical assistance when needed to Cure Violence community

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or a Bachelor's degree with equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Proven management experience
  • Proven community organizing abilities
  • Proven ability to document programmatic activities and assist others in doing so
  • Experience and/or training in crisis intervention and staff supervision
  • Valid Missouri driver's license, insurance, and good driving record
  • No pending criminal cases or prior convictions for domestic violence (within 10 years) or prior convictions for sexual assault or child abuse.
