Financial Empowerment Case Manager

The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis is seeking a qualified individual to work as a Financial Empowerment Case Manager. The Financial Empowerment Case Manager (Case Manager) is responsible for advising clients how to experience financial freedom, empowerment, and security.

The Case Manager will conduct one-on-one and group financial counseling sessions to empower individuals to manage their income and experience financial independence. Document and follow up with counseling sessions to track individual progress in order to help the individual meet his/her financial goal as well as demonstrate program success. Build a rapport with clients to cultivate trust and engagement in counseling sessions. Communicate with third parties including collection agencies, lawyers, and lenders on behalf of clients to verify or resolve billing or collection errors, disputes, and negotiations. Develop modules/curriculum that can be used across the network that specifically engages children/youth in understanding financial stability and developing healthy habits to ensure a positive financial trajectory. Establish and maintain files concerned with projects, services offered, and or policy matters; records actions taken on sensitive issues and is responsible for releasing information to authorized parties.

Candidates must have excellent customer service skills, the ability to communicate ideas and instructions orally and in writing, and have the ability to write reports and business correspondence while demonstrating tact and discretion in preparing, disclosing, and handling information of a confidential and sensitive nature.

The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in social work, business, finance, or related field; or 5 years relevant experience.
