Housing Intake Specialist

The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, the leading champion of empowerment and opportunity for African Americans and others throughout the region in securing economic self-reliance, social equality, and civil rights, is seeking a highly motivated individual with a passion for helping others to join our St. Louis City Outreach team as a Housing Intake Specialist. This is a temporary position.

The Housing Intake Specialist will provide advocacy services for clients with rental issues.

Major responsibilities include:

• Conduct a general assessment of client housing issues and provide relevant housing assistance available.
• Work one-on-one with clients as needed to assist in collecting necessary documentation to resolve rental issues.
• Gather necessary documentation from client's landlords.
• Review and verify tenant rental lease applications.
• Scan necessary documentation for funders review.
• Document with accuracy all services rendered in Case Management System.
• The ability to demonstrate tact and discretion in preparing, disclosing, and handling information of a confidential and sensitive nature.

The ideal candidate will have:

• An associate degree in business or human services or college coursework in a related field is desirable, a bachelor's degree is preferred
• Basic Computer skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• The ability to demonstrate tact and discretion in the preparation, disclosure, and handling of information of a confidential and sensitive nature
