Job Developer/Case Manager

The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, the leading champion of empowerment and opportunity for African Americans and others throughout the region in securing economic self-reliance, social equality, and civil rights, is seeking a highly motivated individual with a passion for helping others to work as a Job Developer/Case Manager.

Job Developer/Case Managers build employer partners for Save Our Sons + Sisters and support the program clients in job searching and placement. Job Developer/Case Managers are assigned direct target hiring fairs based on the scope of work. This position also evaluates an individual's background, skills, and interests and matches them to potential job openings or training programs.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Establishes and maintains working relationships with employers, industry organizations, and public agencies to source job openings and secure employment and vocational training opportunities for clients.
  • Support the Workforce Development Specialists in coaching and preparing clients for interviews and entry into the workforce.
  • Schedule, plan, and lead direct target hiring fairs
  • Manage data from direct target hiring fairs and work with program assistants to streamline data points
  • Follow the scope of work of direct target hiring fairs
  • Coordinates and provides care that is safe, timely, effective, and client-centered.
  • Helps clients make informed decisions by acting as their advocate regarding their developed case plan and career options created with their Workforce Development Specialist.
  • Uses information from assessments, evaluations, observations, and interviews to develop the client's job plans.
  • Maintains client contact to monitor job success and provides follow-up services as necessary for retention and client/employer partner engagement.
  • Add support in developing career plans with participants that map the steps necessary to reach long-term career and academic goals.
  • Utilizes industry standards to advise clients toward careers of interest and growth.
  • Add support in coaching and instructing on resume and cover letter creation, job search techniques, and interview preparation.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Qualified individuals must have previous Recruiting and/or Job Developer experience along with one year of case management or an industry credential; excellent customer service skills; the ability to empathize and motivate clients toward achieving desired goals; experience in developing case plans and career path guidance; excellent knowledge of case management principles; conflict resolution and coping with at-risk clientele and the re-entry population; be team orientated and able to work independently; work in collaboration with partnering agencies; effective verbal and written communication skills; demonstrate tact and discretion when handling information of a confidential and sensitive nature; knowledge of computers and software applications, as well as, the ability to write reports and business correspondence.

Candidates must have (2) two years of previous full-time paid experience in employment counseling, recruiting and selection/staffing services, vocational rehabilitation, or from the human services field with relevant job coaching and placement duties. A Bachelor's degree or a combination of education, training, and experience is preferred.
