Lead Urban Engagement Specialist and Driver

The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, the leading champion of empowerment and opportunity for African Americans and others throughout the region in securing economic self-reliance, social equality, and civil rights, is seeking a highly motivated community-focused individual to work as a Lead Urban Engagement Specialist for our Serving Our Streets Program within the Public Safety Division.

The Urban Engagement Specialists are boots-on-the-ground experts who are familiar with the neighborhoods served. Their focus is to knock on every door within the target area and build relationships within every household.

The Lead Urban Engagement Specialist is responsible for monitoring the daily activities of the Urban Engagement Specialists, collecting data, and driving the Community Mobile Health Van.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Engage targeted residents.
• Build relationships for individual progress.
• Closely monitor and support the families who live in the target neighborhoods.
• Establish a presence in problematic areas.
• Conduct home visits and household assessments, as needed.
• Refer conflicts to a Conflict Mediation Specialist.
• Refer individuals in need of services to a Case Management Specialist.
• Maintain a log documenting all services and products provided.
• Participating in all required meetings and training.
• Attending community events/activities as needed.

The ideal candidate must have:

• A valid Missouri Commercial Driver's License, insurance, and a good driving record.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrate tact and discretion in preparing, disclosing, and handling information of a confidential and sensitive nature.
• Knowledge of the Kingsway East, Jeff Vanderlou, and Hyde Park areas is preferred.
• Dependable and reliable transportation is required.
