Technology Support Specialist

The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, the leading champion of empowerment and opportunity for individuals throughout the region in securing economic self-reliance, social equality, and civil rights, is seeking a Technology Support Specialist to join our team and ensure smooth day to day operations of our systems, network, and technology infrastructure.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Monitor day-to-day operations of the Agency's host computers and network by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Ensure that records of system downtime and equipment inventory are accurately maintained. Apply updates to host system firmware and software.
  • Coordinate with vendors for system support and network services.
  • Assist in implementing and testing new systems and applications to ensure reliability.
  • Train staff on new software and hardware tools.
  • Troubleshoot support tickets as they arrive, including documenting the true issue, investigating the cause, troubleshooting, and recording the root cause and steps taken to resolve the problem. Sometimes, this work may involve outside vendors, support personnel, or organizations.
  • Stays informed about evolving technologies and recommend improvements where applicable.
  • Monitor the installation and operation of the phone system.
  • Maintains records of data communication transactions, problems, remedial actions taken, and installation activities.
  • Prepare, inspect, and deliver IT equipment to staff.
  • Keeps inventory of all computer hardware, software, and devices.
  • Perform other appropriate duties as assigned to support overall IT operations.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on experience with installing and supporting data communication equipment.
  • Familiarity with Windows 11, Microsoft Office 2016+, and Office 365.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for software, hardware, and basic network issues.
  • Experience with Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange mailbox management.
  • Proficient in configuring and maintaining network printers.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including basic report and email composition.
  • Experience working with nonprofit-specific applications is a plus.
